Remodeling: Is it Worth It?

The $64,000 Question

Many or clients are asking us these days: “Is it worth it?” What they mean is; “How much benefit will I truly receive from investing in my home?” And; “How much is too much?”. The answer to both questions is “it depends”. I’m not being deliberately vague. It is just that what is right for truly depends on your circumstances, lifestyle and “wants/needs” equation. By assessing your priorities and getting educated about the cost of quality design and construction, you’ll be more equipped to make these important decisions.

Fact: None of my clients have ever regretted a quality remodel designed and built to their particular needs, desires and budget. When our clients reach the right balance of:

·   Pain (my bathroom tile is disintegrating!)

·   Discomfort (I am sick and tired of that cold floor, cramped closet, etc.)

·   Desire (I have always dreamed of a screened porch where I can watch the sunset)

·  Rootedness (this is going to be our home for the next 5 to 30 years)

·  Ability to afford what you want (our house is paid off, we have that bonus coming, we’ve saved by eating Mac and cheese for a year)

They just know they are ready and that the investment will be worth it!

How Do I Get Started?

Many of us are not even sure what questions to ask. My advice – just start a conversation! Talk with your friends, co-workers and acquaintances. Talk with one or more realtors. Set up a no-cost appointment with a Murphy Bros. designer. We know that process is every bit as important as decision-making. We can also refer you to many satisfied homeowners who have made these important decisions.

Doing It Right

Finally, although I have never worked with a client who regretted a quality remodel, I have met and worked with a number of folks who regretted not doing a job the right way the first time. So…take the time to think and consider, and. It will be worth it!
