Our clients charged us with the following: Create a beautiful new kitchen with increased functionality without changing the footprint of the existing space.
To meet this challenge, we targeted a few key elements. We relocated the refrigerator to make room for a side by side full size refrigerator and freezer. We added a double oven cabinet and removed soffits to allow for full-height upper cabinets. We increased the length of the island to accommodate a larger, downdraft cook-top, dressed it up with panels and valances in the toe kick area, and painted it a contrasting color (the client’s favorite color blue). To provide support for a built-in bench, we replaced the railing separating the kitchen from the family room with a knee wall, framed by a full-height, paneled column.
The remodel includes: new custom cabinets with a paint and glaze finish, featuring “Korner King” drawers in the lazy Susan base unit; African Brown granite countertops with an antiqued, leather-like finish; a tumbled marble backsplash with blue and green mosaic, recycled glass accents; xenon undercabinet lighting, a Kohler “Undertones” porcelain, undermount sink and a Delta “Leland” stainless steel finish, pull-out faucet. Additionally, our paint shop totally refinished the client’s vintage table and chairs to like-new condition.
In the adjacent family room we added ten feet of custom cabinetry, housing a paneled-front undercounter icemaker and wine chiller, a computer desk with two file cabinets and lots of storage space, and a cabinet for the flat screen television and speakers.
Our clients are delighted by their transformed space!
