There is always the possibility of a surprise or two when you are remodeling an existing structure. The following pictures show the result of incorrect building procedures when originally enclosing the porch at the Linwood Lake project. Vinyl storm windows and wood stops allowed for moisture to enter and remain the wall cavity below the window. The rotted framing disintegrated like sawdust! The walls had shrunk about 2 inches just due to the wall rotting from the bottom up and could have even allowed the sleeping porch above to eventually collapse. The fortunate part of the project is that we were already planning to replace these walls in order to accommodate the much larger project, already in motion.
